One-to-one Training
One to One Training - What are the advantages & any downsides?
Cost: Under our current Autumn Promotion, the cost of having an understanding, knowledgeable and focused trainer to yourself is little different, or in many cases lower, than attending a two day public course elsewhere. Current costs, for events booked but not necessarily run before end of February 2012 is now £295 + VAT per day (your site or our Glasgow centre) if you have not used our services for twelve months. The only possible additional cost being perhaps travel – and that’s only if trainer comes to you - and you are outside of Scotland’s central belt.
Personal Focus: In one-to-one training we focus entirely on what will be most practically useful for the trainee to know in order to be able to use the software application applied to their own unique circumstances. These circumstances can include considering their existing software knowledge (covering just what they don’t know already), and tailoring the training completely towards what will be of practical advantage to the person in their job role and current tasks. This means we can either pick and choose from topics across “levels” of courses – i.e. some intermediate level and some advanced level topics, and/or, just as usefully providing bespoke guidance based around relevant real-life actual work-place examples, often using the individuals own files. While it can be theoretically interesting to know what each menu option “does”, it can be of far greater benefit to know exactly what will make a real and practical difference to your everyday work requirements.
Save Time: On a one-to-one basis, as a rule of thumb, we reckon that you can cover twice the amount of content than you might receive from attending a regular scheduled open course elsewhere. This means that instead of two days out of the office on say, an Access course, you can take a single day out of your work schedule to cover what you need to know instead. Spend an extra day on your own work instead - using the bespoke knowledge that you have picked on through the accurate and personally-focused “feedback-loop” that only a one-to-one can provide.
Dates to suit: With a one-to-one, you do not need to either wait for, or work-around, specific and set scheduled dates. We can run these events when it suits you. This can be the quickest way to pick up what you need to know immediately, or means you can take your training entirely when it suits you.
Downsides?: The only real downside that we ever come across for people considering one-to-one training is that by its very nature you will not be amongst a large class (often from a mix of organisations). Some people look forward to interacting with, and gaining the perspective of other people attending an open class - who may be at a similar level to themselves - through discussion and debate.
Flexibility: Using a one-to-one service means that you can either come to our training centre to learn what you would ideally like to know, or we can provide a trainer to come to your own place of work. This can be very convenient, in addition to being able to work on your own examples and requirements.
